I spent my 2023-24 winter working on the mountain in Mammoth Lakes, California. We had a good season with 377 inches, over 30 feet, of snow and many blue bird days.Â
During my time I swam in frozen lakes and natural hot springs. Hiked up mountains and went on beautiful drives. Last but not least I spent lots and lots of time on a snowboard and skis.Â
I got over 125 days of riding and over 600 laps!
It is tough to say what the best part of Mammoth was. The surrounding area is absolutely stunning but can be more difficult to explore in the winter. I did not explore as much as I thought I would, because on my days off I went right back on the mountain to ride.Â
I will say that one of my favorite parts was the people I met a long the way (and the mountains… probably the mountains tho)
My roommate Tim’s favorite part was his leftover bananas…Â
My friend Dani came down to visit and her favorite part was not Tim or his bananas…

The Eastern Sierras are a double edge sword.
Mammoth is isolated in the center of the Eastern Sierras. On one hand, it is a trek to get out there. On the other hand, it is a stunning drive…
I have so much to be thankful for and my winter in Mammoth is just one small part of the adventure.Â
If you have made it this far, thank you and you will hear from me soon : )
