Day 16
Vienna

Hello everyone and welcome back. Today was our full day in Vienna, tomorrow we leave for Salzburg. A quick stop in the capital of Austria, but I enjoyed it very much! Today will also be a quick entry, as it is late and I’m tired :p

We got up and met up with our friends Jack and Hannah for a late breakfast. Hannah knew a spot to go check out so we followed her. I was actually very appreciative to not be the one in charge of navigation for the first time.
We used a mixture of the underground train network and the above ground tram network. With these two combined, you can get anywhere for very cheap and very fast. I enjoyed how efficient and timely the trains and tram were. It made me think of transportation in the US and how we need better transportation.

The market is one long street of vendors. Once we got to there, we walked all the way down it. It was not really selling what we were wanting, but a breakfast place right next to it was. This breakfast place was interesting because it offered expensive meal “packages”. And with these meal packages you got unlimited drinks and an allotted time period. Ex: 30 minutes. 60 minutes. 90 minutes. The deal was you got unlimited drinks in that allotted time period. Each of us got our food, it was pretty small, but we got a coffee for free. I calculated it out and we each had to have 4+ drinks to make this dinner place worth it. Most of their menu was coffee. So we just kept the coffee coming. After eating our food and slamming  4 coffees, we were wired and ready to go. You  must realize none of us drink coffee, so we were all a little awake for a while. Lots of energy, not very tired.

We had three different locations that we wanted to get to. Now normally I would tell you about these locations and their history but it is getting late and we have a travel day tomorrow. So I will tell you about one and then post pictures of the rest. We went to two different palace’s and one monument, both palace’s had big gardens.  One with a view of the city.
The monument was a memorial to the Soviet soldiers who died in the Vienna offensive. This was the battle that took place during WWll, in which the Soviet Union fought to take back Austria. Pretty cool.

One of the palace gardens had a great city view, a maze and lots of nature to walk around in.

After checking out the palace gardens we hopped back on a train to get some food and head back to the hostel. We went out again tonight in hopes of finding a dance floor but didn’t have much luck. Unfortunate. But we did meet some new people and stayed up very late talking/hanging with them. Now it’s 4:15am and we have a travel day tomorrow. Wish us luck!!

If you have made it this far, thank you and you will hear from me tomorrow : )
